TNRHA Affiliate Rules

Year End Points System:
Riders and at least one owner must be a current TNRHA member to participate in point awards. Year end points will be one point for riding (each class shown) and one point for each rider beaten (each class shown). Ties: points will be split between the placings. Year-end high point riders will receive awards as announced at beginning of show season. Awards will be distributed at the year end awards ceremony. Riders must show in at least half the classes during the year in order to be eligible for year-end awards. Year end points for Green Graduation and Green Reiner Year End Awards will differ as each are calculated differently.

Green Horse:
Horse may not have earned NRHA monies prior to beginning of the year. Approved NRHA patterns and rules will be used with the following exceptions: Horse may be ridden one or two handed providing the rider remains consistent throughout the run Horse may be ridden in any NRHA approved bit. NRHA membership and competition license not required. Class will be ribbon or jackpot only (announced in show bill). May stay in class until end of year.

Green Reiner 1 & 2:
This program is designed to allow members who are new to reining to progress toward NRHA
competition based on a points system. It allows riders to move up at their own pace (estimated time in Green Reiner program is 2-3 years). Green rider may not have earned NRHA money prior to January 1 of the year they begin showing. Should riders earn NRHA money the year they are showing green they will not be eligible for Green classes the following year.

Green Reiner Points & Eligibility:
Riders receive points for a base score of 60. Any points above that would be accumulated. Ex: A
score of 65 would earn 5 points. When a Green 1 Reiner has accumulated 30 points they will no longer be eligible for Green 1 classes and will receive his or her graduation award at the year end banquet, but they will be allowed to compete in the Green 1 classes for the remainder of that year. When a Reiner has accumulated 60 points they will no longer be eligible for Green 2 classes after that year (may show for remainder of year) and will receive his or her graduation award at the year end banquet. Points will be carried over from one year to the next until graduation from Green Reiner 2.Riders may use any horse in this class without ownership restrictions. Green 1 riders may ride in Green 2 classes but Green 2 riders may not ride in Green 1 classes. Riders graduating from Green 2 before graduating from Green 1 cannot return to ride in Green 1 classes the following year-even if they have not earned 60 points. TNRHA membership is required to be eligible for year-end and graduation awards, however neither a TNRHA or NRHA membership is required to show in Green Reiner classes. Green 1 and 2 classes will be run separately, with a break between when possible for Green 1 riders to decide if they want to run in Green 2. Graduation points earned during the current year as a non-member will be counted toward graduation when the rider joins TNRHA.

Green Rules for Showing  (during the class):
Green 1 and Green 2 riders may use either 1 or 2 hands but must remain consistent throughout the
run. Horse may be shown in any NRHA approved bit. Green 1 Riders may either come to a complete stop or attempt a flying lead change. Green 2 Riders must execute a flying lead change. All other NRHA rules apply and NRHA patterns will be used.

Green Youth Points & Eligibility:
Open to youth ages 18 and under who have earned less than 10 NRHA youth points and have no NRHA money earnings. Riders receive points for a base score of 60. Any points above that would be accumulated. Ex: A score of 65 would earn 5 points. When a Green Youth Reiner has accumulated 30 points they will no longer be eligible for Green Youth classes and will receive his or her graduation award at the year end presentation, but they will be allowed to compete in the Green Youth classes for the remainder of that year.  The following year the youth may step up into Green Reiner II until they accumulate 60 points or go into the NRHA Youth classes. Riders may use any horse in this class without ownership restrictions. Green Youth riders may ride in Green Reiner I & Green Reiner II.  TNRHA membership is required to be eligible for year-end awards, however neither a TNRHA or NRHA membership is required to show in Green Youth classes.  Graduation points earned during the current year as a non-member will be counted when the rider joins TNRHA. Green Youth rules during showing are the same as Green Reiner I.

Ladies & Men’s Reining Rules and Eligibility:                                                                                                                           Ladies and Mens class will be held at shows when allowed by time constraints. These classes will be run separately by gender of the rider and are open to all ages. All NRHA rules and patterns apply. NRHA membership card and competition license are not required. TNRHA membership required for eligibility for year-end awards. Classes will be ribbon or jackpot (announced in show bill). Horse may be shown in any NRHA approved bit. Horse must be shown one-handed


Geldings Rules and Eligibility::
A geldings class be held at shows when allowed by time constraints and as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors. 
These classes are for any rider showing a gelding and are open to all riders. All NRHA rules and patterns apply. NRHA membership card and competition license are not required. TNRHA membership required or eligibility for year-end awards. Classes will be ribbon or jackpot (announced in show bill). Horse may be shown in any NRHA approved bit.  Horse must be shown one-handed.
